Canada Sets Fees for Spousal Sponsorship in 2026

Canada has published the official fees for residents wishing to sponsor a foreign spouse or partner under its family sponsorship program. According to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) fee schedule, last updated on September 21, 2026, the total cost for sponsoring a spouse or partner living abroad is CAD $1,260 (approximately ₦2,079,000).

This amount includes the sponsorship fee, processing fee, and the right of permanent residence fee. Applicants can opt to reduce the total to CAD $660 (approximately ₦1,089,000) by not paying the right of permanent residence fee at the time of application.

Additionally, sponsors with dependent children will incur an extra CAD $180 (approximately ₦297,000) per child. For those applying under the permanent residence immigration stream, including Quebec business immigration, the cost to include a spouse or partner is CAD $1,590 (approximately ₦2,623,500), which also covers the processing fee and the right of permanent residence fee.

The IRCC advises that fees apply to most applications, with further guidance available on the official government portal.
