Nigeria Police Force Prepares for 2027 Election Security

The Nigeria Police Force, in partnership with Lenders Consult International, is organizing the sixth edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) from September 21 to 23, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State. The theme for this year's conference is “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections.” The event aims to strategize on protecting voters, personnel, and electoral materials ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Senior police officers, particularly those of the rank of Commissioner of Police and above, will gather to discuss emerging electoral security challenges and develop practical strategies for ensuring safe, peaceful, and credible elections. Key topics will include Intelligence-led Policing, Police-Community Partnerships, and the use of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on September 21, 2026. CSP Ani Iniedu, the Force Public Relations Officer, stated that the Nigeria Police Force is committed to enhancing leadership and operational preparedness for the upcoming elections.
