Troops and Drones Deployed to Combat Oyo Kidnappings

In response to recent kidnappings in Oyo State, Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede has ordered the deployment of special forces and advanced aerial surveillance assets to the region. This decision follows a significant incident on May 15, where 39 students and seven teachers were abducted in Ahoro Esinel Community, Oriir Local Government Area.

Major General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed that operations have already commenced to gather intelligence and maintain a relentless posture until the kidnappers are apprehended. The Armed Forces of Nigeria has acknowledged the security concerns in Oyo State and expressed sympathy for the affected families.

Recent military operations have led to the arrest of 314 suspects, the killing of 118 terrorists, and the rescue of 221 kidnapped civilians nationwide. The military aims to sustain momentum in their operations while prioritizing the welfare of troops and civilian protection.
