CSO Urges North-East Residents to Support Military Against Insurgency

A civil society organization focused on peace and security in North-East Nigeria has called on residents to support the Nigerian Armed Forces in their fight against terrorism, particularly in Borno and Yobe states. Speaking at a community forum in Maiduguri on Thursday, Ismail Moham highlighted the ongoing threat posed by the Boko Haram terrorist group, which exploits local fears and operates within communities.

The organization stressed that the fight against insurgency cannot be left solely to the military and urged residents to actively participate in reclaiming their towns and markets. They warned that continued passivity in the face of attacks disrupts trade, agriculture, and economic opportunities, which are vital for the region's recovery.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, was noted for his tireless efforts to protect the community, but success requires cooperation from residents.

The organization called for collective action, reporting suspicious movements, and supporting local vigilante groups to ensure safety and economic stability.
