CEDYK Launches Tree Planting Initiative in Anambra

CEDYK officially launched a tree planting initiative on Saturday in Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA, Anambra State. The event featured remarks from Evan Danchimah Eberechukwu, the CEDYK coordinator for Nnewi North LGA, who highlighted the significance of tree planting for environmental improvement.

Iyk Uzukwu, a representative from CEDYK, urged members and the community to engage in afforestation to replace depleted trees and combat environmental degradation. He noted the urgent need to address deforestation, which adversely affects the ozone layer.

The program aimed to sensitize the population about the necessity of replacing trees cut down daily. Amaka Agbakwuru, coordinator of the Anambra State human rights group, commended CEDYK's initiative, stating it was a step in the right direction and expressed readiness to partner with CEDYK on human rights issues.

The event symbolically included the distribution of coconut seedlings to attendees, reinforcing the initiative's commitment to environmental restoration.
