ACALAN's 20th Anniversary: Call for Stronger Support

Princ Cletu Iloabanafor, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CEOAFRICA, called for intensified support from policymakers, corporate organizations, and civil society groups for the African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) as it prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary. This appeal was made during the Africa Language Week held at the University of Ghana, Legon, on February 23-24, 2026.

The anniversary celebrations are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and will run through 2027. Iloabanafor emphasized the importance of African languages in fostering social cohesion and sustainable development, urging stakeholders to design impactful initiatives that translate linguistic research into tangible results.

The event also featured discussions on enhancing the visibility and valorization of African languages across various spheres of life, with contributions from several experts, including Prof. Dr.

Vicensia Shule and Dr. Babajid Ojo Johnson.
