Adeniyi to Receive IPRA Award at 2026 GWA in Athens

Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), is set to receive the Special Recognition Award from the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) at the 2026 Golden World Awards (GWA) in Athens, Greece. The awards ceremony will take place on September 25, 2026, at the Hotel Grande Bretagne.

IPRA Secretary-General Philip Sheppard praised Adeniyi for his significant contributions to public relations in Nigeria, highlighting his leadership in institutional communication and commitment to professional excellence within the NCS. The NCS has achieved multiple Golden World Awards under Adeniyi's leadership, reflecting strategies focused on transparency and stakeholder engagement.

Additionally, three Nigerian institutions—the Central Bank of Nigeria, the National Information Technology Development Agency, and the Centre for Crisis Communication—are finalists for their public relations campaigns. The NCS has also received international honors, including a GWA in Belgrade (2024) and Ghana (2025), and Adeniyi was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for CEO of the Year at SABRE Africa 2026 in South Africa.
