Champion Breweries Appoints New MD/CEO Malolan Sampath
Champion Breweries Plc has notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited of a leadership change following the resignation of its Managing Director and CEO, Dr. Inalegwu Adoga. The Board has approved the appointment of Mr. Malolan Sampath as incoming MD/CEO, effective 1 September 2026, with an interim arrangement in place pending his assumption of office.
Champion Breweries Plc, headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, filed a corporate action notice with the NGX on 23 June 2026, disclosing a change in its top leadership. The Board of Directors confirmed the resignation of Dr. Inalegwu Adoga as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer and approved the appointment of Mr. Malolan Sampath to succeed him, effective 1 September 2026.
Mr. Sampath brings over 26 years of international executive experience spanning the beverage, FMCG, manufacturing, and agro-industrial sectors, having led businesses of up to US$500 million in scale. His prior roles include Managing Director of Unique Beverages in Angola, Sales & Marketing Director for a PepsiCo bottling franchise, Managing Director (NPK Joint Venture) and Chief Marketing Officer at Indorama Eleme Fertilizers in Nigeria, and CEO of Global Industries Limited, a Wilmar International joint venture in Zambia. He holds an MBA equivalent from Symbiosis Centre for Management & HRD, Pune, and a BBA from the University of Chennai.
Pending Mr. Sampath's resumption, the Board has appointed Mr. Rasheed Ademola Adebiyi, the Company's Executive Director of Finance, to act as Managing Director in an interim capacity. The announcement was signed by Chairman Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob.
