Legal Expert Questions Charges Against El-Rufai

Inibehe Effiong, a human rights lawyer, raised concerns about the legal charges filed against former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. The charges, reported to be related to cybercrime, were brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja, alleging that El-Rufai tapped the phone conversations of Nuhu Ribadu, a former National Security Adviser.

Effiong clarified through a post on his Facebook page that El-Rufai admitted to tapping Ribadu's conversations, referencing someone else. He emphasized that no court would compel a lawyer to provide evidence against another lawyer, and noted that there is no known entity called the Department of State Services (DSS) under Nigerian law that would be involved in such matters.
