CBCN Endorses Tinubu for 2027 Presidential Election

The Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s candidacy for the 2027 presidential election. This announcement was made by the President General of CBCN, Archbishop Prof. Leonard Bature Kawas, during the 12th Synod held at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja.

Kawas highlighted the administration's policies and efforts aimed at fostering national unity, stating, “We support him now. We support him today, we support him tomorrow, and we support him for as long as he’s willing to be our president.” He affirmed that the endorsement reflects the collective mandate of the gathering.

Senator Dr. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, opened the Synod on behalf of President Tinubu, urging religious leaders to maintain national unity and avoid divisive rhetoric. Akume acknowledged the challenges faced by Nigerians amid ongoing reforms and reiterated the government's commitment to improving household incomes and national security, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility in addressing security issues.
