Jesse Derry's Premier League Debut Cut Short by Injury

Jesse Derry, an 18-year-old player for Chelsea FC, made his first Premier League start against Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge, marking a significant milestone in his career. However, the match took a frightening turn when Derry suffered a serious head injury, prompting a lengthy stoppage as medical staff rushed to his aid.

He received oxygen on the pitch and was subsequently taken off on a stretcher and transported to St. Mary's Hospital.

Chelsea later confirmed that the initial fears regarding his condition were alleviated. Derry expressed relief on social media after the incident, and his composure during the emergency drew admiration from across the club.

His father, Shaun Derry, a former midfielder for Leeds United and Crystal Palace, watched his son reach this top-flight milestone. Derry was replaced by Liam Delap, who came on as a concussion substitute following a heavy collision involving Morgan Gibbs-White and Robert Sanchez, although Nottingham Forest confirmed that Derry did not require a concussion substitute.
