Chelsea's Wesley Fofana Escapes Jail After Ninth Driving Offense

Chelsea player Wesley Fofana, a 24-year-old Frenchman, escaped jail time after his ninth driving offense. He was handed 300 hours of unpaid community service and a driving ban for his reckless behavior on the Surrey motorway, where he was seen swerving through traffic at high speed.

Fofana, who earns £200,000 a week, had already served a two-year driving disqualification for previous speeding offenses. The court imposed an additional 18-month ban, extending his time off the road until May 2027.

District Judge Julie Cooper criticized Fofana for setting a poor example for fans. Fofana, accompanied by two bodyguards, was ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge.

His lawyer, Imogen Cox, admitted there was no excuse for his actions. Fofana is set to join Leicester City in 2022 after enduring injuries during his time at Chelsea.

Judge Cooper warned him of severe consequences for any further offenses.
