Chevron Nigeria Strengthens Journalist Training in Niger Delta

Chevron Nigeria Limited reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing the skills of journalists in the Niger Delta region during a media capacity-building workshop held on Monday in Asaba, organized in partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council. Victor Anyaegbudike, Manager of Communications, representing Chevron’s General Manager of Corporate Affairs, Olusoga Oduselu, highlighted the media's vital role in promoting transparency in the oil and gas sector.

Chevron invests over $1 billion annually on Nigerian suppliers and is focused on sustainable community development initiatives, including the transition to Host Community Development Trusts under the Petroleum Industry Act. Anyaegbudike noted that Chevron's Advanced Writing and Reporting Skills program, in partnership with Pan-Atlantic University, has benefited over 120 journalists since 2014.

In the last three years, more than 425 journalists have been trained across various Nigerian cities. Churchill Oyowe, Chairman of the NUJ Delta State Council, praised Chevron for its partnership and the workshop's timely intervention.
