Chief Judge Reassigns Nafiu Bala's ADC Leadership Case

Chief Judge John Tshoho of the Federal High Court reassigned the case filed by Nafiu Bala against the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to Justice Peter Lifu. This lawsuit, which challenges the legitimacy of the current ADC leadership under David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, was prompted by a Supreme Court ruling that intervened in the internal party dispute.

The Supreme Court had set aside an earlier court appeal order that had led to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) derecognizing the David Mark-led faction. The case is set to resume on May 8, 2025, after a previous indefinite halt pending the Supreme Court's decision.

Bala's legal team, led by Luka Haruna, requested the reassignment, while the defense, representing Mark and Aregbesola, opposed the change, arguing for a wait on the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment to guide the lower court's proceedings.
