China-based businessman, Angolans arrested for cocaine

On February 4, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested a 34-year-old China-based businessman, Ibeanu Vincent Chukwudulu, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Kano. He was attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to China via Abuja and Doha when credible intelligence led NDLEA officers to de-board him for a body scan, which confirmed he had ingested illicit drugs.

Subsequently, he excreted 52 pellets of cocaine weighing 735.95 grams. Chukwudulu, who relocated from Lagos Island to Guangzhou, China, in 2024, was apprehended alongside two Angolan nationals, Mbandu Martin Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52.

They were intercepted in the departure hall of Kano airport while undergoing clearance for an Ethiopian Airlines flight to Istanbul, Turkey, via Addis Ababa, where body scans also confirmed drug ingestion.
