Nigeria's UN Envoy to Keynote Maritime Summit in China

The People's Republic of China has invited Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ibrahim Folorunsho Jimoh, to deliver the keynote address at a high-level international workshop on sustainable maritime development in Beijing. This invitation was communicated through an official diplomatic note from the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations, addressed to Nigeria's Permanent Mission in New York.

The workshop, titled “China Practice Training Series of United Nations Sustainable Development: Workshop on High-Quality Development of Maritime Economy,” is scheduled for August 4 to 10, 2026. The Chinese Mission noted that Ambassador Jimoh’s acceptance of the invitation reflects the strong diplomatic ties between Nigeria and China.

His keynote address will focus on international cooperation in implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 14 (Life Below Water). The event aims to gather diplomats, policymakers, and maritime experts to discuss sustainable maritime economic development.

This development aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration's focus on economic diplomacy and international partnerships.
