China and Pakistan Propose Five-Point Peace Initiative

China and Pakistan have jointly unveiled a five-point initiative to restore peace in the Gulf and the broader Middle East region. This proposal was announced after a high-level meeting in Beijing, attended by Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and China's Foreign Minister, and Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The initiative emphasizes the urgent need for coordinated international action to prevent further escalation of conflicts in the region. The five key measures include an immediate cessation of hostilities, advocacy for peace talks, protection of civilians and non-military targets, ensuring the safety of maritime operations particularly in the Strait of Hormuz, and a call to strengthen multilateral cooperation under the United Nations Charter.

This joint proposal signals a renewed diplomatic push from Beijing and Islamabad to play an active role in stabilizing a volatile region amid rising geopolitical tensions.
