China Encourages Nigerian Youth in Strengthening Ties

The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, represented by Minister Zhou Hongyou, hosted a youth exchange seminar in Abuja aimed at encouraging young Nigerians to actively participate in strengthening Nigeria-Africa relations. Zhou highlighted the importance of youth engagement in fostering cooperation and addressing global challenges.

He stated that young people from both China and Nigeria should work together to establish a global vision and enhance awareness through education and collaboration. The seminar is part of a broader initiative to deepen ties between China and Nigeria, with plans for cultural exchanges including a fashion show, food festival, and film festival by 2026.

Zhou called for ongoing dialogue and tangible outcomes beyond the seminar, urging young Nigerians and Chinese citizens to deepen their friendship and contribute to a stronger bilateral relationship. The Federal Ministry of Youth Development's Director, Despan Kwardem, noted that the seminar is a step towards strengthening ties and highlighted potential internship and employment opportunities for Nigerian youth with Chinese companies.
