Chris Brown Pleads Guilty to Affray in London Nightclub Assault

American singer Chris Brown, 37, pleaded guilty to affray in connection with a nightclub attack in London on February 19, 2023. This plea was made during a hearing at Southwark Crown Court, where he appeared alongside his vocal coach, Omololu Akinlolu, also known as Hoody Baby.

Both men admitted to affray after more serious charges, including assault and possession of an offensive weapon, were dropped. The incident at Tape nightclub in Mayfair involved Brown striking music producer Abe Diaw multiple times with a glass bottle, followed by a physical assault as Diaw attempted to flee.

He sustained head and knee injuries and required hospital treatment. Det Con Zara Ripamonti of the Metropolitan Police described the assault as disgraceful and unprovoked.

Crown prosecutor Claire Campbell characterized it as a serious act of violence. Sentencing is scheduled for October 26, with Brown remaining on bail and allowed to travel, provided he returns to the UK by October 25.
