APC Chairman Claims Christians Shift Support to Tinubu

On Monday, Prof. Nentaw Yilwatda, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed that many Christians who supported Peter Obi during the 2023 general elections have now switched their allegiance to Bola Tinubu. Yilwatda asserted that the political atmosphere has changed, affecting voting patterns, and insisted that the religious sentiments that previously influenced Christian voters no longer exist.

He made these remarks during an appearance on a political program on Channel Television. Yilwatda highlighted the APC's significant political gains in the recent elections, particularly in the National Assembly and among state governors.

He specifically mentioned Plateau and Nasarawa states, which have large Christian populations, noting that these areas previously supported Obi primarily due to religious sentiments. He also pointed out that the South-South region showed considerable support for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) during the elections, but now aligns with Tinubu.
