Ilori Steps Down as CIIN President After Transformative Tenure

Yetunde Olubunmi Ilori has concluded her tenure as President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), having pursued an ambitious agenda focused on expanding insurance education and awareness across Nigeria. During her two-year administration, she emphasized the importance of educating professionals and the public about insurance, which included initiatives targeting youth in secondary and tertiary institutions.

Ilori's leadership saw the successful passage of the Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act (NIIRA) 2025, a landmark legislation aimed at stimulating growth and improving regulatory effectiveness in the insurance sector. She introduced various programs, including an insurance hackathon and a digital initiative to train one million Nigerian youths in insurance literacy.

Additionally, Ilori published educational materials for children to simplify insurance concepts and engaged with stakeholders to restore insurance education in secondary school curricula. Her tenure is noted for strengthening collaboration among industry stakeholders and enhancing the capacity of the CIIN.
