Terrorists Attack Military Base in Borno, Nine Soldiers Killed

On Wednesday morning, around 1 AM, a terrorist attack on a military base in Gwoza, Borno State, resulted in the deaths of nine soldiers and the abduction of an unspecified number of civilians, primarily women. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the attackers, suspected to be Boko Haram militants, arrived on motorcycles and in gun trucks, overpowering the military personnel stationed at the base.

ASP Nahum Daso, a spokesperson for the Borno State Police Command, noted that preliminary reports suggest survivors were abducted and taken towards Mandara Mountain. The local chief imam expressed fears that more civilians may have been killed during the attack, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the total number of abducted individuals.
