Pastor Among Two Killed in Benue Community Attacks

In a series of violent attacks in Benue State, Nigeria, at least two individuals, including a pastor, were reported killed. The incidents occurred in rural communities within the Apa Local Government Area.

The first attack took place on Sunday afternoon, where the pastor was ambushed while returning from church in Edikwu Ward 11. Allegations surfaced of two women being raped during the invasion.

Victims of the sexual assault were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The following morning, another attack occurred in Oiji, which was reportedly repelled by local vigilante youth.

Adam Ocheiga, the chairman of the Apa Local Government Area, confirmed the ambushes in a telephone interview, stating that two people were killed in the Sunday ambush. Efforts to obtain a response from the police public relations officer, DSP Udem Edet, were unsuccessful as calls and text messages went unanswered.
