Coalition Demands EFCC Action on Betta Edu's Corruption Case

A coalition of civil society groups, led by Kennedi Tabuko and Danesi Momoh, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to publicly disclose corruption cases against Betta Edu, the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, who is accused of misappropriating 585 million naira (approximately $640,000). During a press conference in Abuja, the coalition expressed concern over the lack of accountability for public officials, stating that Nigeria is becoming a nation where justice is absent.

They criticized the EFCC for not taking action against Edu, highlighting that her public appearances alongside First Lady Oluremi Tinubu send a troubling message about the government's stance on corruption. The coalition issued a five-day ultimatum for the EFCC to act, warning that failure to do so would damage the government's public image.

They emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in governance to restore public trust.
