COAS Waidi Shaibu Visits Plateau, Commits to Peace

On Thursday, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, visited Plateau State to reaffirm the army's commitment to restoring lasting peace in the region. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to restore calm and entrench sustainable peace across the state.

Upon arrival, he was received by Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who underscored the importance of strong civil-military cooperation in tackling emerging security challenges. During the visit, Colonel Apollonia Anel, the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, stated that the COAS received a comprehensive operational briefing from Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Command and Joint Task Force.

The briefing outlined ongoing operations and proactive measures being implemented in collaboration with security agencies to contain threats and protect lives and properties. Lieutenant General Shaibu interacted with community leaders and residents, assuring them of the Nigerian Army's unwavering commitment to protecting law-abiding citizens and urging them to remain calm and vigilant.

Local government chairman Hon Dachung Bago and councillor Hon Ladi Dangyok commended the visit, noting that the presence of top military leadership boosts public confidence in ongoing security efforts.
