COAS Directs Special Forces to Intensify Anti-Terror Ops

On Tuesday, during his maiden operational visit to the Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State, Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu directed Nigeria's elite Special Forces to intensify efforts against terrorist insurgents. He emphasized the importance of high-impact, intelligence-driven missions aimed at dismantling and permanently neutralizing terrorist networks that threaten Nigeria's sovereignty and the safety of its citizens.

Shaibu highlighted the need for troops to adopt a proactive approach to modern warfare, adapting to evolving asymmetric threats. He described the Special Forces as a critical pillar in the military's strategy to uproot insurgency and restore stability nationwide.

Shaibu received operational briefings from the command and expressed satisfaction with the readiness and quality of training of the Special Forces. He also approved the construction of additional accommodation blocks to enhance troop welfare, reiterating that the well-being of soldiers and their families remains a top priority.

The visit concluded with a symbolic tree-planting exercise to underscore the Nigerian Army's commitment to environmental sustainability.
