Katsina Governor Offers Reintegration to Repentant Bandits

Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has proposed a reintegration deal for repentant bandits, urging them to lay down their arms and embrace peace. He assured that the government will support those who genuinely repent and reintegrate into society.

This announcement was made during the inauguration of 152 housing units for internally displaced persons in Jibia Local Government Area. Radda highlighted the evolution of insecurity in Northwest Nigeria, linking it to broader challenges such as climate change and economic opportunities.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue and the need for communities to restore dignity to displaced families. The housing project, set to be realized by October 2024, aims to provide shelter and basic necessities to affected families.

Radda also mentioned additional initiatives, including the construction of entrepreneurship centers and provision of potable water. Elsi Attafuah from the UNDP described the project as a significant step towards rebuilding communities affected by conflict and insecurity.
