Akande Urges Diezani to Return and Clear Her Name

Akande has publicly called on Diezani Alison-Madueke, the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, to return to Nigeria to clear her name concerning unresolved legal issues with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Alison-Madueke, who served under former President Goodluck Jonathan, has been implicated in multiple corruption investigations since leaving office in 2015.

The EFCC has sought the extradition of Alison-Madueke from the United Kingdom, where she currently resides. She faces allegations related to significant financial improprieties, particularly concerning a strategic alliance involving the Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), which reportedly resulted in the sale of oil worth $3 billion without proper royalty payments.

Akande believes it is time for Alison-Madueke to defend herself in Nigeria's judicial system, asserting that she has the opportunity to clear her name and address the allegations against her.
