Drivers Urged to Install Dash Cams for Safety in Nigeria

Commercial drivers across Nigeria have been urged to adopt the installation of dashboard cameras, commonly known as dash cams, as part of efforts to tackle the increasing insecurity on highways. This call was made by Sterl Human Resource Development Logistics through a statement issued by Idowu Fulfil on a Friday.

The company emphasized the importance of technology-driven solutions to strengthen security, particularly in light of rising cases of banditry, kidnapping, and violent crime affecting commuters on inter-state routes. The installation of dash cams in commercial buses, taxis, and logistics vehicles is expected to provide real-time visual evidence that can aid law enforcement agencies in tracking criminal activities and supporting investigations and prosecutions.

The statement also highlighted that such technology could deter criminal behavior and provide credible evidence in disputes. Furthermore, the company called on transport unions and individual drivers to prioritize passenger safety and invest in surveillance technology, urging relevant government agencies to consider policies that mandate the use of such devices in commercial transport.
