AFN Invites 29 Athletes for 2026 Commonwealth Games

The Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has announced the invitation of 29 athletes to a training camp in Abuja, commencing on Thursday, June 25, 2026, as part of the final preparations for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. The selected athletes, comprising 14 males and 15 females, were chosen based on their performances in the recently concluded national trials held at Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos.

Due to visa issues, some athletes were unable to participate in the trials. The athletes will compete in 18 events across track and field, including three relay events.

Notable athletes invited include Kanyisola Ajayi, Alaba Akintola, Ash Favour, Chidera Ezeakor, and Tobi Amusan, among others. The events scheduled for competition include the 4x100m and 4x400m relays, as well as individual events like the 100m and 200m sprints.
