Tobi Amusan's Injury Affects Commonwealth Hurdles Performance

Tobi Amusan, Nigeria’s sprint hurdler, disclosed that she suffered a knee injury from a fall at training camp, which impacted her performance in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She finished third with a time of 12.60 seconds, while Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas won gold in 12.33 seconds, and Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds secured silver in 12.41 seconds.

This result ended Amusan's bid to become the first woman to win three consecutive Commonwealth titles in the event, having previously won gold in 2018 and 2022. Despite her injury, Amusan expressed gratitude for securing the bronze medal and emphasized her commitment to treatment and preparation for the rest of the season.

She noted that her warm-up routine might have contributed to her performance rather than the injury itself. Amusan attributed her continued success to hard work, dedication, and discipline, and she mentioned wearing gloves during the final due to the cold weather in Glasgow.
