Tobi Amusan Wins Bronze at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games

On Thursday, Tobi Amusan, Nigeria’s sprint hurdler, secured a bronze medal in the women's 100m hurdles at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, marking the end of her reign as Commonwealth champion. Amusan, who previously won gold medals at the Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, aimed to become the first woman to achieve three consecutive Commonwealth titles in this event.

The 29-year-old finished the final in 12.60 seconds, placing third. Devynne Charlton from The Bahamas won the gold medal with a time of 12.33 seconds, while Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds claimed the silver medal with a time of 12.41 seconds.

Earlier in the day, Amusan had shown promise by winning her heat in a wind-assisted 12.19 seconds, the fastest time ever recorded at the Commonwealth Games under any conditions, although it was ineligible for record purposes due to excessive wind assistance. Despite not achieving a historic third straight title, Amusan extended her remarkable record with a third consecutive podium finish in the women’s 100m hurdles.
