Plateau State Governor Imposes Curfew After Attacks

In response to deadly attacks in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Governor Caleb Mutfwang announced a 48-hour curfew effective from midnight on March 30, 2023, until April 1, 2023. The attacks, which occurred on March 29, resulted in several deaths and injuries, prompting the governor to condemn the violence as barbaric and unprovoked.

Mutfwang called for a shift from routine peacekeeping tactics to more aggressive, intelligence-driven security measures. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the government, security agencies, and local communities to confront criminal elements decisively.

The governor also reported progress in security operations, including the arrest of suspects inciting violence. He reassured residents of ongoing support for security operations to protect lives and property, while urging traditional and religious leaders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
