Communities Aiding Terrorists, Warns Defence Minister Musa

Defence Minister Musa addressed the growing threat of terrorism in Nigeria, stating that communities are inadvertently aiding terrorist groups by providing them with food, intelligence, and logistical support. During a discourse held as part of Democracy Day celebrations, he highlighted that the fight against insecurity has become increasingly complex, with enemies often embedded within society.

Musa stressed that military operations alone will not resolve the issue unless citizens actively cooperate with security agencies to expose criminal networks. He noted that security agencies have repeatedly uncovered instances where criminal elements receive support from local populations.

Musa urged Nigerians to unite against attempts by criminal groups to exploit ethnic, religious, and political divisions. Additionally, former Senate President Bukola Saraki underscored the importance of an independent legislature in promoting democracy and accountability, warning against mere endorsement of executive proposals without scrutiny.
