Defence Minister Orders Troops to Shoot Terrorists on Sight

On Wednesday, Defence Minister Christoph Musa, a retired general, directed military personnel to take immediate action against terrorists and armed bandits without waiting for orders from superior officers. This directive was issued during the inauguration of 62 operational vehicles and security assets valued at ₦27.127 billion, procured by the Sokoto State Government to bolster ongoing security operations.

Musa warned that any hesitation in confronting criminal elements would not be tolerated and stated that those who refuse to act would be treated as bandits. He praised the Sokoto State Government for its significant investment in security, which includes bulletproof vehicles, personnel carriers, motorcycles, and various security gadgets.

Governor Ahmadu Aliyu disclosed that the administration has invested ₦36 billion in security initiatives, including the establishment of a command control center to improve surveillance and intelligence sharing. Musa also cautioned against the misuse of the newly acquired assets and reminded personnel of their responsibility to protect law-abiding citizens.
