ADC Confirms Congresses Will Proceed Despite INEC Dispute

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna, represented by leader Lawal Tukura, has announced that it will continue preparations for its congresses despite a dispute with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). During a press briefing on Sunday, Tukura emphasized that the party's national convention is scheduled for April 14, 2024.

This decision comes in light of INEC's recent removal of the ADC's leadership from its portal, which Tukura claims misinterprets a court's directive regarding the party's leadership dispute involving Naifi Ubala Gomb. The ADC leadership intends to challenge INEC's interpretation in court, asserting that it is incorrect.

The party also criticized the federal government for failing to fulfill its constitutional responsibilities to protect lives and property, highlighting security as a priority in the lead-up to the 2027 elections. The ADC is committed to continuing its political activities at various levels, including ward and local government congresses.
