APC Unity Emphasized by Gov. Diri Ahead of 2027 Elections

During the APC South-South zonal congress held in Asaba, Delta State, on Wednesday, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State highlighted the significance of adopting a consensus model to foster unity within the party as it prepares for the 2027 general elections. Diri, who is also the chairman of the South-South Governors Forum, expressed satisfaction with the political developments in the South-South region and stressed the need for the region to be involved in national decision-making processes.

He noted the changes in the electoral process since the 2019 governorship primaries, advocating for a united front to avoid divisions. Diri congratulated President Bola Tinubu on his achievements and pledged to work towards his re-election.

Godswill Akpabio, the APC national vice chairman, commended the efforts of Victor Giadom in uniting the governors in the region. The congress adopted a consensus model to elect party executives, aiming to strengthen the party's position in the upcoming elections.
