Sheikh Jingir Addresses Controversy Over Christian Remarks

Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, the Chairman of Izalatil Bid'a Wa'ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), responded to backlash regarding his remarks made at a mass wedding ceremony for 1,500 couples, which some perceived as divisive. During a One-Day National Symposium themed "Enhanced Political Participation and Social Justice as a Panacea for Unity and Development in Nigeria," Jingir clarified that his comments were misinterpreted and that Islam does not condone mistreatment of individuals based on their faith.

He stressed that Muslims would be accountable for injustices against non-Muslims and cited the life of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a model for peaceful coexistence. Jingir urged Nigerians to prioritize unity to foster development and called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and state governors to govern impartially, respecting the constitutional rights of all citizens to support any political candidate.

He highlighted that political leaders should not use governance to reward loyalty or punish opposition.
