Outrage Over Sheikh Jingir's Anti-Christian Remarks

Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir made controversial remarks during a mass wedding event in Kano State, where he referred to Christians as “infidels” and suggested that Nigeria belonged to Muslims. The event, sponsored by the Kano State Government, saw the attendance of four northern governors: Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, and Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina.

Jingir expressed his support for the All Progressives Congress’ Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket in the 2023 elections, arguing it reflected the numerical strength of Muslims in Nigeria. The governors were seen applauding during his address, which led to widespread condemnation from various Nigerians, including former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, who criticized Governor Yusuf for his apparent endorsement of Jingir's statements.

Prophet Isa El-Buba also condemned the remarks, urging northern leaders to focus on pressing issues like insecurity rather than fostering religious division. The mass wedding aimed to assist those unable to afford marriage costs.
