Controversy Erupts Over Nnewi Market Shop Allocations

Controversy has arisen regarding the allocation of multi-billion naira blocks of shops at Agbedo Motor Parts Market in Nnewi, Anambra State. Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, known as Gabros, claimed in a viral video that over N4 billion was embezzled through illegal shop allocations.

He did not specify individuals involved in the alleged corruption. Echezona Anazodo, the Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area, responded by stating he was not responsible for the allocation or collection of funds for the shops, asserting that the project was managed by private investors.

Anazodo emphasized that neither he nor the local government received any money related to the project. Mr. Kennedy Oguaju, Chairman of Agbedo Motor Parts Market, corroborated Anazodo's statements, clarifying that the project was entirely financed and executed by traders through a contractor appointed by the market committee.

Oguaju also dismissed claims that shop allocations were used as political patronage.
