Tinubu Praised as Selfless Reformer by Coomassie

Barrister Saifuddeen Coomassie, a lecturer at Baze University in Abuja, described President Bola Tinubu as a selfless reformer committed to enacting long-term changes for Nigeria rather than seeking political power. Coomassie defended Tinubu's economic reforms, which include the removal of fuel subsidies, unification of foreign-exchange rates, and tax reforms, stating these decisions reflect a leader willing to endure short-term unpopularity for the nation's benefit.

He criticized previous administrations for avoiding necessary reforms due to election-year expediency, asserting that they were aware of the detrimental effects of subsidies and distorted exchange rates but chose to remain silent. As the 2027 general elections approach, Coomassie urged voters to evaluate Tinubu based on the long-term impact of his reforms, asserting that he deserves a second term to complete these policy shifts.

He emphasized that Tinubu's administration has made progress in infrastructure projects and fiscal consolidation since he took office on May 29, 2023.
