COREN Inaugurates Committee on Amendment of Engineers Registration Act

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has inaugurated a committee to amend the Engineers Registration Act of 2018. The committee, led by Kamila Maliki, aims to review the Act to strengthen engineering regulation and align it with global best practices.

President of COREN, Zubair Abubakar, emphasized the importance of this task to ensure the profession remains responsive to emerging national and international realities. The committee includes seasoned engineering practitioners, legal experts, and stakeholders in the engineering ecosystem.

The Terms of Reference for the committee mandate them to identify strengths and gaps in the current Act, engage with stakeholders, and recommend amendments to enhance COREN's regulatory power and disciplinary framework. The committee is expected to submit its final report within three months.
