Corruption and Weak Institutions Hinder Nigeria's Progress

At the investiture of Rotarian Nosa Ayemien as the 12th President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, legal practitioner Mr. Christopher Eichie asserted that corruption, weak institutions, and declining ethical values are significant obstacles to Nigeria's development.

Eichie delivered a lecture titled "Creating Lasting Impact Through Leadership, Integrity and Service: A Nigerian Perspective," where he highlighted Nigeria's abundant natural resources and youthful population but noted that weak institutional accountability and insecurity hinder progress. He emphasized that integrity is crucial for development and called for ethical leadership across all sectors.

Eichie urged for stronger institutions, investment in education, and the promotion of national unity. He praised Rotary International's humanitarian efforts and stated that leadership without integrity leads to oppression.

In his acceptance speech, Ayemien remarked that Rotary helps bridge the gap between the government and the people. The event also featured goodwill messages from District Governor Sikiru Owonikoko and past presidents of the club.
