Court Adjourns ADC Leadership Suit Indefinitely in Abuja

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned indefinitely a leadership suit filed by Nafiu Bala Gomb against David Mark, the former Senate President, concerning the leadership structure of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Justice Emeka Nwite presided over the case, which was adjourned sine die following a request from the plaintiff's counsel, Luka Musa Haruna, to reassign the case.

The Supreme Court had previously dismissed an interlocutory appeal filed by Mark, which sought to halt proceedings in the matter. The court's decision to adjourn was influenced by a letter from the plaintiff dated May 4, 2026, requesting the reassignment.

The defense accused the plaintiff of attempting to frustrate the hearing process, while the plaintiff's counsel argued that the court should not act on the letter without hearing from both parties. The matter remains pending as the court awaits further directives from the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.
