Court Adjourns Case Against Ireti Kingibe's ADC Membership

The court has adjourned a suit seeking to stop Ireti Kingibe from parading as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The case is set for hearing on June 9, 2026, as Justice Lifu fixed the date following an application from the plaintiff's counsel, G.

Ogugwa. The court had previously declined to grant an interim order to restrain Kingibe from performing functions as an ADC member, directing the plaintiff to provide a notice to the Senate to show cause why the relief sought should not be granted.

The matter was initially adjourned on April 20, 2026, to address pending applications, including preliminary objections filed by Kingibe's counsel, Marshal Abubakar. The suit was instituted by two executive members of the ADC from Wuse Ward, Abuja, namely Okezuo Kanayo and Isaiah Samuel, with Kingibe listed as the sole defendant.

The plaintiff's lawyer, Kolawole Olowooker, filed an ex parte motion on March 17, 2026, seeking an interim injunction to restrain Kingibe from participating in ADC activities until the substantive suit is determined.
