Court Allows Emefiele to Hire Forensic Experts in $4.5 Billion Fraud Trial

The court has granted the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Emefiele, permission to hire forensic experts in his $4.5 billion fraud trial. The trial involves Emefiele and Henry Omoile facing 19 counts of corruption and fraudulent property transactions.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought the charges. The court ordered the inspection of a crucial exhibit, an iPhone, to be conducted in the presence of representatives from both sides.

The EFCC opposed the application, questioning the qualifications of the forensic experts. The judge directed the chain of custody of the exhibit to be maintained until the inspection on September 24-26, 2025.
