Pastor John Abebe Arraigned for Selling Couple's Embryo

Pastor John Abebe, based in Abuja, was arraigned at the FCT High Court for the alleged unlawful sale of a couple's embryo and breach of medical confidentiality. The charges against him include three counts: fraud, criminal conspiracy, and violation of the National Health Act 2014.

The prosecution claims that Abebe defrauded the couple of N19 million and disclosed private medical information without their consent, causing them emotional distress. The court heard that Abebe, who is associated with the Joje Abeb Fertility Centre and Faith Church, had custody of the couple's medical records related to their reproductive health status.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the court granted him bail in the sum of N5 million. The case has been adjourned until April 2 for trial.
