Court Bars Turaki Faction from PDP Secretariat Access

On November 21, 2025, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled against the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), prohibiting them from accessing the party's national secretariat. Justice Joyc Abdulmalik delivered the judgment, stating that the actions of Turaki's faction violated a previous court order and lacked legal standing.

The court specifically instructed security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Department of State Services, to ensure that the faction aligned with Nyesom Wike could access the party's headquarters without hindrance. The ruling followed a convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15-16, 2025, which the court deemed a breach of the PDP constitution and a violation of Section 287(3) of the 1999 Constitution.

The court declared the actions taken during the convention null and void, emphasizing that no group is above the law and that political parties must operate within the legal framework.
