Six Lagos Motorists Convicted for Traffic Offences

The Lagos State Ministry of Justice announced the conviction of six motorists for various traffic offences following enforcement operations in the Haruna area of Ikorodu. The offences were prosecuted in a special offences court presided over by Magistrate K.

Ariyo. The motorists faced charges including driving against traffic and making illegal U-turns.

Onasanya Daniel pleaded not guilty to charges of driving against traffic and making an illegal U-turn, with his case adjourned to April 21, 2026. Omowunmi Babatund was found guilty and fined N200,000, with an additional N20,000 fine and one month of community service.

Olayemi Oluwabamigb faced similar charges, pleading not guilty on one count but found guilty on another, with the matter adjourned to May 5, 2026. Other motorists, including Olufemi Opadeji and Alabi Akinoluwa, were convicted and fined N200,000 and N20,000, along with community service.

Lawal Abdulwasiu faced multiple charges, including obstruction and resisting enforcement officers, and was found guilty. The Ministry reiterated the importance of compliance with traffic laws to maintain road safety.
