Court did not approve lawyer’s appointment as receiver – KEPCO, Others

The court did not approve the appointment of a lawyer as a receiver, as stated in a joint statement by KEPCO NG Limited and New Electricity Distribution Company Limited. The lawyer, Ogunba, was accused of misinterpreting a court order in a matter related to a newspaper publication on August 7 and 8, 2025.

Ogunba had presented himself as having court approval to act on behalf of a bank, but this was questioned by the company. The Federal High Court in Lagos had issued an interim injunction on June 24, 2025, restraining several banks from appointing a manager or enforcing security on the company's assets.

The banks have since filed an appeal challenging the court's order. The case involves the New Electricity Distribution Company Limited, which was established as a joint venture between Sahara Power Group and KEPCO.
